Our DUSUSU Journey

When our founder, Zuriel Oduwole, was just 10 years old in 2013, she began an idea, to talk to people she meet about the need for girls, especially on the African continent, to go to school until at least the age of 18. That way, they would have more options in life and are not getting married at age 16, 14 or in some cases, 12.

"Show & Tell"

Ten years later, she has now spoken to more than 51,360 youths across 21 countries about the power of education, from Mozambique to Ghana, from South Africa to Kenya, across Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Egypt, and many places in between.

She has sat down with more than 34 world leaders [Presidents and Prime Ministers] and a US Secretary of State to talk about the critical issue of education, especially girls education, and the world is now slowly seeing 'why'.

Our Unparalleled Approach

The 'why' is no one can see into the future, but everyone can see the present. Everyone can see in Zuriel's simple journey, what an educated girl with just a simple idea, can do today, right now. Fathers who were against girls education, now want better for their daughters - because they can see standing before their eyes, their daughters' future. Mothers now see their lost dreams, in their daughters' future.

As an example of the power of educating a girl, Zuriel, along with her siblings Azaliah, Arielle, and Ismachiah co-founded Dream Up, Speak Up, Stand Up [DUSUSU], a US registered 501(c)3 charity.
